Job DescriptionThe Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) is hiring a full-time faculty position to join the Division of Basic Sciences. The expected rank for this position is Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank and tenure status will be commensurate with selected candidate's experience.
Our research focuses on structural birth defects, fetal programming, placental development and inflammation, ovarian cancer, and substance abuse. Our mission is to have a meaningful impact on the healthcare in our communities and our research environment promotes collaboration and multidisciplinary research.
Successful candidates should be able to:
- Establish a rigorous and competitive basic research program
- Secure external funding from diverse extramural funding sources
- Demonstrate professionalism, effective communication, laboratory safety, and continuous practicum improvement
Qualifications
- Candidates must have a PhD
- Maintain the ability to lead an independent NIH, federally funded research program
- Candidates are expected to have an established federal grant portfolio that can be transferred to the University of Maryland
- Interest in collaborating with existing basic science and clinical faculty within the department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences
- Experience as principle investigator in securing extramural funding
