What You’ll Do: 

The Second Level Reviewer is responsible for reviewing cases from a defined patient population to identify missed opportunities to improve accuracy of documentation and collaborate with the coding department to assure documentation is clinically appropriate, accurately reflects improvement in the Vizient Q&A mortality rankings by capturing the mortality variables in the Vizient risk models.  With a focus also on the severity of illness of the patient that is reflective of current CMS standards.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

The ideal candidate will have a clinical background with a thorough knowledge of official medical coding guidelines, CMS, and private payer regulations related to the Inpatient Prospective Payment System and experience performing second level reviews. Additional qualifications include:

Clinical Background: RN required

Certification: CCDS or CDIP preferred but not required (or the willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire).

Experience: Second level CDI Vizient Q&A risk adjustment reviews is required

Communication Skills: Strong ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers and staff.

Tech Proficiency: Comfortable using MS Office, email, VPNs, virtual machines, two-factor authentication, and video conferencing tools (MS Teams, Zoom, etc.).
