Description
The Coalition for College is seeking a part-time Director of Development to expand and lead our fundraising efforts. This new position on our fully remote team reports to the CEO, and the new Director will be responsible for building and managing a portfolio of individual and institutional donors who are enthusiastic about our mission. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in professional fundraising and a passion for improving access to higher education for all students. This is a fully remote, half-time, flexible position; relocation is not expected.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet organizational goals.
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
- Conduct prospect research to identify new funding opportunities.
- Tracking interactions with prospective and current donors and identifying best practices to maximize the functionality of donor management software.
- Work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to engage key stakeholders in fundraising activities.
- Manage all aspects of donor communication and recognition.
- Track and report on fundraising progress to the CEO and Board.
Salary and benefits
The salary range for this half-time role is $85,000 to $100,000. The final salary offer will be based on the candidate’s skills, education, work location and experience.
This position includes limited benefits, such as a 401(K) savings plan, access to the Employee Assistance Program, observed holidays, paid time off, and sick time.
Requirements
Required skills and experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 8 years proven professional fundraising experience
- Strategic thinker and self-starter, capable of seeing needs and opportunities and following through to make them happen.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Experience using donor management software to track and analyze interactions with supporters
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Interest in building out and honing fundraising strategy for an innovative, ten year old organization.
- A commitment to the mission of improving access to higher education for underserved students.
Preferred skills and experience
- Fundraising in a setting where building a portfolio of donors was necessary.
- As most donors are located close to New York City, a candidate located in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic is preferred.
