A full timePost-Doctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. CharlesHong in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Maryland-Baltimore asof June 1, 2018. MD,PhD or MD/PhD scientist is sought to join the emerging field of chemical genetics. The Hong lab has identified a number of smallmolecules that specifically perturb embryonic patterning. The first goal of the study is to determinehow these small molecules function by identifying their cellular targets usingcell biological, biochemical and computational approaches. In addition, sinceaberrant activities of many of developmental pathways are thought to play amajor role in pathogenesis of variety of human diseases, such as cancer,metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, an important goal is to exploretherapeutic potential these small molecules in various murine disease models.



Qualifications

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or M.D. and expertise in techniques of cell and molecular biology. Depending on background and interest, the post-doc will perform experiments involving drug target identification, proteomics, biochemistry, computational biology and/or murine or zebrafish disease models. Prior experience in these methodologies and willingness to learn new techniques are highly valued.
