About Us: Tunelark is a leading online platform connecting students with experienced music instructors. We provide tools and support to help Instructors grow and manage their lesson studios effectively.
Position Overview: Are you an expert voice instructor interested in joining Tunelark's platform to manage and grow your lesson studio? We are looking for an experienced and dedicated voice instructor to join our team as an independent contractor.
What Tunelark Offers:
- Student Discovery: A new channel for students to discover you and book trial lessons.
- Professional Profile: Assistance in creating a polished online profile as a Certified Tunelark Instructor, showcasing your background, skills, testimonials, and videos.
- Promotional Tools: Tools to promote your studio on social media and elsewhere, attracting new students.
- Guaranteed Payment: We charge students automatically and pay instructors via direct deposit, ensuring you get paid for every lesson.
- Cancellation Protection: We enforce a 23-hour late change policy on your behalf, ensuring that students are required to pay you if they need to cancel or reschedule a lesson last-minute.
- Scheduling Tools: Comprehensive scheduling tools to automate your studio's scheduling, including calendar invites and optional lesson reminders.
- Teaching Tools: Access to 150+ educational games, student recording options, a file-sharing tool integrated with the classroom, and more.
- Independence: Work for yourself, set your own schedule, and use your teaching approach with Tunelark's ongoing marketing and administrative support.
Compensation:
- As independent contractors, Tunelark instructors set their own rates. For reference, the most common rate on our platform for a 30-minute lesson is $44.
- Tunelark’s fees depend on whether a student joins as a result of Tunelark’s platform (Tunelark-referred students) or as a result of your promotional efforts (instructor-referred students).
- Instructor-referred student rates:
- Instructor receives 88% of lesson payments starting from lesson #1.
- Tunelark-referred student rates:
- Instructor receives 50% of lesson payments for lessons #1 through #8.
Starting with lesson #9, Instructor receives 77% of lesson payments.
- Instructor receives 50% of lesson payments for lessons #1 through #8.
- Instructor-referred student rates:
- First lessons are 50% off to incentivize customers signing up. Tunelark and the instructor share in providing that discount.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Music Degree: A degree in a music or music pedagogy
- Teaching Experience:
- You’ve taught music for at least two years
- You’ve taught 1-on-1 lessons to at least 15 students
- You’ve taught 1-on-1 video chat lessons to at least 3 students
- Background Check: Full background check, education verification, and social media check as part of the application process.
Additional Expectations:
- Availability: Instructors should maintain at least 10 available teaching hours for Tunelark students each week to receive new Tunelark-referred students.
- Responsiveness: Promptly respond to student inquiries and messages from the Tunelark team.
- Respectful Communication: Maintain respectful and professional communication with customers and Tunelark team members.
- Adherence to Policies and Practices: Follow Tunelark’s policies and best practices to ensure a consistent and high-quality experience for students.
- Iteration Toward a Successful Profile: Work proactively with the Tunelark team to incorporate feedback and hone your profile so that it will attract as many students as possible.
- Retention Goals: Maintain a high retention rate by providing personalized support to students, inspiring and motivating them to define and work toward their goals. Proactively follow up with students to keep their musical aspirations and love of music top-of-mind, while encouraging them to book more lessons with you.
