Description
Chesapeake Climate Action Network seeks an experienced electoral organizer to coordinate volunteer engagement for the 2026 elections.
The Federal Elections Coordinator will work with CCAN’s sister organization, CCAN Action Fund to manage a volunteer-driven independent expenditure voter contact campaign to elect climate champions in three House Congressional races. The Coordinator will mobilize CCAN Action Fund supporters and recruit new volunteers in priority districts, train them in voter contact tactics, and track voter education and turnout goals.
About Us
Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) is the only group in the Chesapeake region of Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC dedicated exclusively to building a powerful grassroots movement to fight climate change. We envision an equitable energy future where truly clean sources of power — solar, wind, and geothermal — sustain every aspect of our lives, efficiency is prioritized, and fossil fuels have been phased out.
CCAN Action Fund is CCAN’s advocacy arm. Through voter education, lobbying, and participation in the electoral process, we seek to move our country into leadership on the most urgent global issue of our time: the climate crisis.
Primary Responsibilities of the Federal Elections Coordinator
- Develop and manage voter contact plans in priority House Districts. Research districts to determine voter contact goals and priority phone banking targets, and create timelines and benchmarks to hit voter contact goals.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteer teams. Develop an outreach plan to build relationships with existing supporters and identify new volunteers, and train and mentor volunteers with leadership potential to lead events and support other volunteers.
- Lead weekly phone banks. Create and manage a phone bank schedule, accurately tracking and reporting voter data and contact results.
- Communications and writing. Draft statewide and location-specific email action alerts and social media content to recruit volunteers and update supporters about key races. Draft calling scripts for voter contact.
- Personal Administrative Duties. Use CCAN’s Time and Attendance software to log work hours correctly. Keep a travel log and submit it frequently for reimbursement, minimally monthly.
